Calix is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Contractor for Advanced product aluminum die casting design. The right individual will have considerable experience in design for aluminum die casting for active electronics housings in the 10lb to 50lb part size/weight range as well as experience in vendor tooling interactions for same. Candidates must be expert level Solidworks designer available to work full time with overtime expectation. Design team is located in Petaluma California, preference given to those available to work on site though consideration will be given for working remotely mixed with time spent on-site.
Responsibilities
Design and document housing, components, and assemblies for telecom outside plant hardened remote unit applications. This will mainly include but is not limited to aluminum die casting design with thermal interface to active electronics and associated design for deployment from provided design concepts.
Develop and design approach for review under supervision and in partnership with a larger mechanical team.
Finalize and release detailed models and documentation for fabrication per project schedules.
Interact with suppliers in component and material specification and selection.
Interact with manufacturing engineers providing assembly drawings and assembly instructions.
Support Compliance engineering in test and validation of the product per UL/CE/North American standards.
Support pilot and production release of the products.
Qualifications
BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent prior experience
Minimum 10
years experience designing aluminum die cast related electro-mechanical assemblies references and design experience examples required .
Experience in designing for cost, reliability and manufacturability.
Experience working with Vendors, suppliers and Material Selection and Fabrication processes.
Expert proficiency as a SolidWorks designer, (Adobe Illustrator and Pro E experience a bonus).
Must work well in a team environment and be open to direction.
Must be Hands-on and willing to work in lab setting building and validating early prototypes.
Proficient with all phases of development process and product life cycle.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
