Optician - not licensed minimal experience - $20-$22 Optician - not licensed with experience -$22-$25 (DOE) Optician - Licensed up to $28 per hour SUMMARY Design, measure, fit, and adapt lenses and frames according to written optical prescription or specification.
Assist with selection of frames.
Measure patient for size and fit of eyeglasses and coordinate frames with facial and eye measurements and optical prescription.
Prepare work order for lab containing instructions for grinding and mounting lenses.
Verify exactness of finished lens spectacles.
Adjust frame and lens position to fit, and shape/reshape frames as needed.
DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Establish rapport with patients and customers, determining needs and wants; sell, illustrate, and demonstrate the use of optical products Analyze and interpret prescriptions Respond to patient complaints and concerns Size and dispense spectacles and accessories; troubleshoot eyeglass problems; provide follow-up services including adjustments utilization of standard optical equipment Document and place orders; maintain patient records; submit invoices; process patient payments and determine third party payer participation; exchange and return frames for credit Maintain frame boards with price and quantity; work with vendors and sales reps in purchasing frames, accessories, and ophthalmic lenses Perform inventory control Regular and reliable attendance Perform other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services.
This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems Knowledge of arithmetic and its applications Knowledge of administrative procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records Knowledge of machines and tools Talking to others to convey information effectively Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar Using logic and reasoning Actively looking for ways to help people Being aware of others' reactions Ability to see details at close range Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects QUALIFICATIONS Commitment to excellence and high standards Knowledge of ocular medications and devices and their applications Knowledge of medical terminology Excellent interpersonal skills Detail oriented Ability to extract data from conversations and documents Ability to maintain confidentiality Excellent customer service skills PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
